First ever production to the public

The Yen Han Ballet Company is pleased to present:

Sergei Rachmaninoff: “Dawn”, choreography by Ken Ossola
Philip Glass: “Orphée et Eurydice”, choreography by Filipe Portugal
with special guest star Alexey Botvinov on solo piano

On February 21 and 22, 2020, the Yen Han Ballet Company is pleased to be showing its first ever production to the public. This event will feature a world premiere of excerpts of two new productions by our resident choreographers Ken Ossola and Filipe Portugal, specially created for the Odessa Classics Music Festival directed by Alexey Botvinov, to be held in June 2020. In addition to these two new ballets, the Yen Han Ballet Company will also perform “Nocturnes”, choreographed by Heinz Spoerli to music by Frédéric Chopin, in Odessa in June.

We are honored to be welcoming a number of globally known artists to share the stage with our company members at this inaugural performance in our new studio in Küsnacht. First of all, our performance will be accompanied live on solo piano by internationally renowned Ukrainian pianist Alexey Botvinov, who is one of the most highly acclaimed Rachmaninoff specialists of our time. Alexey Botvinov has been received enthusiastically with standing ovations all over the world and we are privileged to be able to present this absolute highlight to our audience in Küsnacht.

On stage we will be welcoming Giuseppe Picone, Italian principal dancer, choreographer and artistic director of the ballet company of Teatro San Carlo in Naples, known around the world as the face of Italian classical ballet. This production will also feature principal dancers Natalya Kusch, Julian Botnarenko, and Dmitry Khazim who will join our company members in interpreting the new choreographies.

Furthermore, our artistic director Yen Han will introduce the Yen Han Ballet Company to you, while explaining her vision for the company’s future. Yen Han has been the principal dancer of the Ballet Zurich for many years, as well as being one of its most popular performers. After having successfully built up the Yen Han Dance Center since 2012, Yen Han and her husband Matthias Zinser founded Yen Han Ballet Productions, which includes the Dance Center as well as the Yen Han Ballet Company, in 2019.

The Yen Han Ballet Company intends to present high-caliber ballet productions to a discerning audience, both in Switzerland as well as in international locations around the globe. Its first project was a collaboration with the Shanghai Ballet and this event is now the company’s first in-house production. Through her company, Yen Han aims to bring together outstanding dancers from the world’s stages in challenging new performances. At the same time, she will also provide young dancers with opportunities to further their careers by inviting them to participate in professional productions staged by her company, whether these be students from her own Yen Han Dance Center or from other leading schools around the country.

We would gratefully like to thank our sponsors, first and foremost Piano Sigrist in Hinwil for the gracious and generous support with the grand piano. In addition, we also thank Bang & Olufsen for their sponsorship and support.

The performances will take place on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 19.00 at Yen Han Ballet Productions, Freihofstrasse 20, 8700 Küsnacht. Tickets are available for CHF 50. Reservation and pick up: ticket-sale@yenhan-ballet-productions.com or phone: 076 421 2818.

We look forward to welcoming you in February.

Kindest regards

Yen Han & Matthias Zinser
